Sacramento, founded in 1839, was the first western terminus of the Pony Express and the intercontinental railroad, and an important sea port via the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. The area grew rapidly during the Gold Rush years; by 1854 it was California's State Capital. The breadth and importance of the city's history is reflected in the wealth of museums in the area. Harvard researchers have designated Sacramento the " Most Integrated City in America." As the fourth-largest city in California, Sacramento offers all the variety and social opportunity of a dense urban environment. Cultural resources include a world-class opera, numerous theatre troupes and venues, a diverse artists' community, a city zoo, an active night life, a major performance and sports arena, professional men's and women's basketball teams, and the incalculable social advantage of living in a city of half a million people. Sacramento State University and the nearby University of California at Davis serve the city as centers of learning. Our Sacramento office location is in the heart of Sacramento's Midtown district within walking distance of shops, excellent restaurants, affordable housing and good neighborhoods, the Capitol building, the Sacramento River, and numerous other city amenities. Midtown is walkable and bikable, which makes it a great place to live and work—a huge attraction for most of North State Resources' Sacramento office employees. As in most of California, Sacramento residents enjoy mild weather year-round, and pursue outdoor activities such as walking, field sports, golf, equestrian activities, and bicycling for transportation, for competition and for pleasure. For snow sports enthusiasts, the world-famous Lake Tahoe is only two hours East. For a fabulous weekend getaway, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Napa Valley wine country are less than 2 hours away. Real Estate prices in the area are decreasing!
