GIS Analyst

NORTH STATE RESOURCES, INC. (NSR) is seeking one GIS Analyst for an immediate opening in its Redding, Chico, or Sacramento office. GIS Analysts perform cartographic mapping and GIS dataset production duties. Specific duties include data capture and processing, data projection, data analysis, data archiving and metadata generation, and data quality control. Typical assignments may involve the use of GIS and GPS for analyzing impacts, land surveys, resource mapping, design and drafting of mitigation/restoration plans, photo interpretation, and interpretation of construction design drawings. GIS Analysts work closely with staff scientists company-wide as part of a team devoted to high-quality technical document preparation. Required travel will be minimal, although occasional project site visits may be necessary.


Required Knowledge and Skills: A bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, or in a natural resources area is preferred, and a minimum of one year of GIS work experience. Individuals who do not possess a bachelor’s degree, but who do have a certificate in GIS and substantial GIS-related work experience, are encouraged to submit a resume as well. Proficiency and understanding of ArcGIS (ArcView), AutoCAD, Trimble mapping-grade GPS systems, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access) are required. Proficiency and understanding of ArcGIS (ArcINFO), ArcIMS, ArcSDE, ERDAS Imagine, and common programming languages (Visual Basic, C++, Python) are desired. Individuals must also demonstrate excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, and be able to prioritize tasks based on effort and deadlines.
