NEPA/CEQA Environmental Analyst/Scientist – Firm Wide

We are always seeking experienced mid- and senior-level NEPA/CEQA Environmental Analysts/Scientists. The positions may be based in one of our 4 northern California offices (Redding, Sacramento, Chico, and Mount Shasta). Potential candidates should be motivated professionals who are looking for an opportunity for career growth while working with energetic people in a relaxed office environment. We seek candidates who have a minimum of three years of experience at the mid-level environmental planner/analyst/scientist positions at an environmental consulting firm, who are confident and experienced practitioners of CEQA and NEPA, and who are ready to elevate their careers to the next level.


NSR is currently working on several high-profile environmental documents throughout California and has on-call contracts with a variety of federal, state, and local agencies. Our project workload is robust and interesting.


The successful candidate will prepare technical sections for EIRs, EISs, EAs, and Initial Studies, permit applications technical reports, preliminary environmental constraints analyses, and other environmental documents. Our experienced staff lead research and site surveys, evaluate a project’s consistency with pertinent regulations and planning policies, compile and analyze data to support an evidence-based impact analysis, and interact with clients and subconsultants. Motivated and accomplished analysts have the opportunity to manage projects.


Desired knowledge and skills:
The position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental planning, geography, natural sciences, or a related field; and three to five years of experience in environmental planning, NEPA/CEQA compliance, and regulatory permitting. Water resources project experience is preferred. Excellent writing, oral communication, and computer skills are required. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
