| Botanists/Botanical Technicians NORTH STATE RESOURCES, INC. (NSR) is seeking Botanists and Botanical Technicians to conduct various plant surveys in Northwestern California, Cascade Ranges, Sierra Nevada, Great Central Valley, and Southwestern California geographic subdivisions of California for the 2008 field season. NSR will provide training in identification of target species, survey protocols, and orienteering. Required knowledge and skills: Experience in accurately identifying vascular and/or non-vascular plant species with use of a dichotomous key (e.g., The Jepson Manual); skill in orienteering with topographic maps and aerial imagery; and amply robust health and fitness for working in a wide range of physically demanding and environmentally challenging conditions. Working knowledge of the California flora and academic training in natural resources is strongly preferred. Familiarity with GPS is desirable. Botanists must have, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in botany or a related field. Botanical technicians should be undergraduates in botany or a related field, or have equivalent training or experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
