Field Supervisor – Biological Surveys

NORTH STATE RESOURCES, INC. (NSR) is seeking a Field Supervisor to serve as the field manager for specific biological survey projects. The position has numerous responsibilities, including: ensuring that field teams are accomplishing their assignments in an effective manner; scheduling team assignments; maintaining production rates; ensuring quality control in data acquisition; providing progress reports; and coordinating with the project manager on an as-needed basis. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of health and safety for the project, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and will also be expected to function in the field as a surveyor if necessary.

Desired knowledge and skills: At least one year of previous experience as a field supervisor for biological survey projects is preferred. Other desired skills include orienteering with topographic maps and aerial photos; backcountry driving and safety; and robust health and fitness for working in a wide range of physically demanding and environmentally challenging conditions. Recent experience in California and academic training in natural resources is preferred.
